Questions & Answers

Uncompacted (loose-dumped) fill dirt settles roughly 20-25% over the first 6-12 months, with most movement in the first 90 days and after the first heavy rains. Machine-compacted fill placed in 6-8 inch lifts and compacted to 95% Proctor cuts that to minimal residual settlement — typically less than 3%. To finish at your target grade, order about 25% more than your raw volume calculation for loose fill, or 5-10% more for compacted lifts (the extra covers low spots and finishing). For anything load-bearing, compact in lifts and wait at least 30 days before pouring concrete or laying pavers.

"I've been grabbing bagged stuff at Lowes for the small planters for years and finally got around to redoing the whole back yard, so I figured I'd just order a real load for once. Didn't really know what I was doing, but the calculator did the math for me which I appreciated because I was about to just guess high. Paid online which felt weird since I'm used to calling these places, but ordered Monday and the load was on the driveway Tuesday morning, easier than I expected."

"My contractor bailed two days before the pour. Had to order the load myself with zero clue what I was doing. The price was right there on the page, no quote phone tag. Truck was on time. That alone saved the schedule."

St. Augustine, FL

"Subbing the dirt work on a strip-mall pad, second load this month from these guys. Per-ton is on the page before you commit, no PO games, no fuel surcharge sprung at the end. Schedule held on both loads and the third one's already booked."

Trevor S.

Vero Beach, FL

"Got the quote in maybe a minute. Scheduled it for Thursday and they were there Thursday. Flagged the irrigation lines in the order notes before booking — appreciated that it actually made it through to the route plan. No buried lines, no extra cleanup."

Hialeah, FL

"Was bracing for the usual: call three places, get three prices, half of them never call back. Pulled up the site, plugged in my ZIP, price was right there. Ordered Tuesday morning, had the load on the property Wednesday. Easiest part of the week, honestly."

Javier C.

Coral Gables, FL

"Site price matched the receipt to the dollar. Delivery slot held. My neighbor saw the truck and asked who I used; gave him the link."
