Frequently Asked Questions

How soon can I get bulk soil delivered in Florida, is same-day available?
Order by 2 PM ET Monday through Friday for next-business-day delivery. Orders placed Friday by 2 PM deliver Monday. Same-day availability is variable, please call. Your delivery date is confirmed at checkout before you pay, no calling around, no waiting for a callback.
How much will my soil settle after delivery, and how do I order enough to account for it?
Plan on roughly 15-20% settling for loose-dumped topsoil over the first few weeks. Loose-dumped fill dirt settles more, around 20-25%. If you're placing fill dirt in 6-8 inch lifts and machine-compacting with a plate compactor or roller, residual settling is minimal — typically less than 3% when compacted to 95% Proctor. Practical rule: order based on your finished elevation and add a 20% buffer for loose topsoil or 25% for loose fill dirt. Under-ordering forces a second delivery, which almost always costs more per ton than rounding up the first time.
Will the dump truck damage my driveway, lawn, or sprinkler heads?
All deliveries are dropped curbside, at the most accessible point on your property from the street. If conditions are safe and the terrain allows, the driver will pull further in at his discretion. Mark sprinkler heads with flags before delivery and let us know about soft ground or weight limits in the order notes.
What if I order the wrong amount of soil, can I return what I don't use?
Bulk soil is a one-way delivery, however much is ordered and loaded must be dumped at the delivery site. If you come up short, call us and we can assist with a second order. If the material itself is wrong (you ordered topsoil and received fill dirt, for example), call 844-764-5726 within 24 hours of delivery for assistance.
What's the minimum order for bulk topsoil or fill dirt delivery?
Our minimum is just 1 cubic yard for topsoil and fill dirt. No high minimums — big or small, we deliver it all. Enter your ZIP on the product page to see your all-in delivered price.
How long does delivered topsoil stay good if I can't spread it right away?
Bulk topsoil is best spread within a couple of weeks of delivery. Beyond that, it starts to compact under its own weight and lose aeration. If you need to delay, store the pile on a tarp, not directly on grass which it will smother within days, keep it shaded, and turn it occasionally. Avoid leaving it sealed under plastic through a Florida summer.
Can I plant directly into delivered soil, or does it need to settle first?
Our topsoil is ready to use as delivered, no curing, settling, or additional processing required. Spread it directly into your lawn, garden beds, or planters and plant the same day.
Is fill dirt the same as topsoil?
No. Topsoil is the dark upper layer, screened, with organic content, ideal for growing grass and plants. Fill dirt is subsoil, sand, silt, and clay with no organic matter, built to compact and hold weight. Use fill dirt to raise grade and shape the ground, then cap with topsoil for anything green.
What is fill dirt used for?
Fill dirt is used anywhere you need to add volume and structural stability. Common uses include: raising the grade of a low yard, building a pad before pouring a foundation or shed, backfilling around retaining walls, filling in old pools or trenches, and leveling deep depressions before laying topsoil and sod. Florida homeowners often use fill dirt for the bottom layer of a grading project, then top-off with rich topsoil for the planted layer.
Do you deliver topsoil and fill dirt in Florida?
Yes. We deliver bulk topsoil and fill dirt across Florida, including Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Orlando, Lakeland, Clearwater, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Port St. Lucie, West Palm Beach, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hialeah, and Miami. Order online, enter your ZIP for an all-in delivered price, and pick your delivery date at checkout. A dump truck drops the material in a single pile at the most accessible spot on your property. Please keep in mind someone must be available on site to receive the delivery.
How many cubic yards of topsoil do I need for 1,000 square feet at 4 inches deep?
For 1,000 sq ft at 4 inches deep, you need roughly 12 cubic yards of topsoil. The math: 1,000 sq ft x 0.33 ft deep = 333 cubic feet divided by 27 = approximately 12 cubic yards. If you're topdressing at 1 inch instead, that same area needs about 3 cubic yards. Enter your ZIP at checkout for an all-in delivered price.
