Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use Soils.com.

Last updated: June 20, 2026

01

Who We Are

Soils.com operates an online platform for browsing bulk materials, checking ZIP-based pricing, requesting quotes, placing orders, and coordinating delivery in supported markets.

When this policy refers to Soils.com, we, us, or our, it refers to the Soils.com website and the team that operates it.

02

What Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

Depending on how you use the website, you may provide information such as:

  • Name, email address, and phone number.
  • Delivery ZIP code and delivery address details collected during checkout.
  • Project details you submit through quote, supplier, or contact forms.
  • Order reference numbers, site access notes, and delivery instructions.
  • Account login information, including password-based sign-in or one-time email code requests.

Payment and checkout information

Online payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number in our application. Stripe collects billing, shipping, and payment details needed to process the transaction.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we and the infrastructure supporting the site may collect technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, requested pages, and timestamps for security, fraud prevention, and service operation.

03

How We Use Your Information

We use information we collect to:

  • Show location-based pricing and delivery availability.
  • Process orders, coordinate deliveries, and send confirmations.
  • Respond to quote requests, supplier inquiries, and support messages.
  • Authenticate accounts and maintain sign-in sessions.
  • Detect fraud, misuse, and other security issues.
  • Improve the website, customer support, and operational workflows.
  • Comply with legal, tax, accounting, and recordkeeping obligations.

Advertising and cross-context sharing

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do use advertising and analytics services — including Meta (Facebook) Pixel — that receive device and event data to help us measure and improve our marketing campaigns. Under California law and similar state privacy laws, this activity may be considered "sharing" or "cross-context behavioral advertising." You can opt out at any time via the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer, or by enabling Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser.
04

When We Share Your Information

We share information only when needed to operate the service or when required by law.

  • Suppliers and delivery partners: We may share order, delivery, and contact details needed to fulfill your request.
  • Payment providers: Stripe processes checkout and payment-related information on our behalf.
  • Email and transactional messaging providers: We may use service providers to send sign-in codes, order confirmations, and operational email updates.
  • Internal team notifications: When you place an order or submit a quote request, we send the order and contact details to an internal team communications channel so we can respond promptly.
  • Address validation and location lookups: When you enter a ZIP code or address, we send those details to an address-data provider to verify deliverability and provide autocomplete suggestions.
  • Hosting and infrastructure: The website runs on a managed hosting platform that processes requests and logs basic technical information for security and operational purposes.
  • Service providers: We may share limited information with vendors that help us host, secure, maintain, or operate the website.
  • Legal or compliance needs: We may disclose information when required by applicable law, legal process, or to protect our rights and users.
  • Business transfers: If the business is reorganized, acquired, or sold, information may transfer as part of that transaction.
05

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Soils.com uses cookies and browser storage to keep core features working.

Essential session technology

Sign-in flows and account sessions may rely on cookies or similar browser mechanisms. If you block these, account features may not work correctly.

Session storage

The site stores your cart contents and selected ZIP code in browser session storage so pricing, cart state, and delivery context persist while you browse.

Advertising & measurement

_fbp, _fbc, fr — Meta (Facebook) Pixel cookies used to measure ad campaign performance and to serve relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram. Set only when the pixel fires (which honors GPC + your Do-Not-Sell preference).

Managing browser storage

You can clear cookies and browser storage through your browser settings, but doing so may sign you out or remove your cart and ZIP selection.

06

Third-Party Services

We currently rely on third-party providers for parts of the service, including:

  • Stripe for payment processing and collection of checkout billing and shipping details.
  • Resend for transactional email such as sign-in codes and order communications.
  • Discord for internal team notifications when orders and quote requests come in.
  • HERE Technologies for address validation, ZIP-based deliverability checks, and address autocomplete.
  • Vercel for website hosting, infrastructure, and request logging.
  • Meta Platforms, Inc. (Facebook / Instagram) for advertising measurement, audience optimization, and ad campaign performance for Soils.com paid marketing. Data shared: browser event data, page URLs (with delivery ZIP and address inputs stripped), IP address, device identifiers.

These providers handle data under their own privacy terms in addition to ours.

07

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the business, support customers, maintain records, prevent fraud, and meet legal or accounting obligations.

  • Order and payment-related records may be kept for tax, accounting, and dispute handling.
  • Account information may be retained while the account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward.
  • Quote, contact, and supplier form submissions may be retained to support follow-up and business operations.

We may keep some information longer when required by law, needed to resolve disputes, or necessary for fraud prevention and security.

08

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or additional information about the personal information we hold about you.

We will review and respond to requests in accordance with applicable law. Some requests may be limited where we must retain information for legal, security, fraud prevention, or business recordkeeping reasons.

To make a privacy-related request, contact us at contact@soils.com.

Residents of certain states, including California and Florida, may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.

Your California Privacy Rights

California residents may exercise their right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information by (a) clicking the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer, (b) enabling Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser, or (c) emailing contact@soils.com with the subject "CCPA Opt-Out Request." We honor all three signals.

09

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure.

  • Encrypted HTTPS connections for the website.
  • Secure payment processing handled by a specialized provider.
  • Access controls for internal operational tools.

No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10

Children's Privacy

Soils.com is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

11

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the last updated date at the top of this page.

If the changes are material, we may also provide additional notice through the website or through account or order communications when appropriate.
